"Fractured Harmony" showcases a detailed, abstract-realism drawing of a small piece of ponderosa bark created with colour pencil on black paper. The work features intricate, organic textures with a rich interplay of complementary colours including shades of blue, grey, orange, and white. The various hues interweave fluidly, creating a dynamic, three-dimensional effect. The work intricately draws upon natural bark elements generally found on a Ponderosa and more specifically, the particularly small scales of this tree growing just outside of Lytton, in the southern BC Interior.
"Fractured Harmony" lies in its ability to capture and present the beauty of natural forms through an abstract lens, striking a perfect balance between chaos and order. This piece invites viewers to delve into its layers, to find harmony in its fractures, and to appreciate the interconnectedness of the elements it portrays.
The work is drawn in colour pencil and includes a double mat, with a soft white outer mat and the inner mat a light bluish grey, nicely matching the scales of the tree and complementary to the orange scales that typify Ponderosa pine. The drawing including the double mats is listed for $900 CND. Framed in a low profile black metal frame for $120 extra.
